Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account details: your email address, username, password (stored only as a secure hash) and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account id, name and profile picture.
• Profile details you choose to add: profile picture, bio and country.
• Gameplay: the games you play, every move and how long you took to choose it, results and ratings.
• Messages: direct messages you send and receive. Match chat is delivered live and not stored.
• Safety records: reports you file or that are filed about you, and moderation actions.
• Technical data: your IP address and browser type, kept with your sign-in sessions and in short-lived server logs, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
• Guest accounts: if you play without signing up, we create a temporary account with no email.

Why we use it

• To run the game: matchmaking, ratings, leaderboards, friends, messages and notifications (performance of our agreement with you).
• To keep players safe and games fair: bot checks, rate limits, reviewing reports, detecting cheating and multiple accounts (our legitimate interest in a safe service).
• To send account emails such as address confirmation and password resets. We do not send marketing email.

What other players can see

Your username, profile picture, bio, country, ratings, statistics and game history are public, like on most online game sites. Your email address is never shown to other players.

Services we rely on

We use a small number of providers who process data only on our behalf:

• Our hosting provider, which runs the servers and databases.
• Cloudflare: storage for profile pictures, and the Turnstile bot check on sign-up and sign-in.
• Resend: delivery of account emails.
• Google: only if you choose "Continue with Google".

Some of these providers may store data outside your country. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards the law requires.

Cookies and local storage

We use only what the site needs to work: a sign-in cookie, a cookie that remembers your language, and your browser's local storage for settings such as "reduce animations". We use no advertising or tracking cookies, so we do not ask for cookie consent.

How long we keep it

• Your account data, until you delete your account.
• When you delete your account, your profile, ratings, friends, messages and notifications are deleted. Finished games stay in your opponents' history under "Deleted player", with nothing that identifies you.
• Guest accounts that have not been used for 30 days and never finished a game are deleted automatically.
• Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. Moderation records are kept as long as needed to keep the service safe.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 or the EU GDPR), you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and object to how we use it. You can change most details and delete your account yourself in Settings. For anything else, write to support@playjanken.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Janken is not meant for children under 13. If you are under the age of digital consent where you live, use Janken only with a parent's or guardian's permission.
